Chemical application is one of the costliest orchard operations in almond production, creating a need to reduce spray volume without sacrificing crop protection. To improve spray efficiency, American Pistachio Growers and USDA-ARS evaluated the Smart Apply Intelligent Spray Control System™ with LiDAR technology in pistachio and almond orchards.

Our marketing team recently had the opportunity to tag along for an 9-system install near Moultrie, Georgia, at a 4,000-acre pecan operation, where the team was preparing sprayers for the upcoming spraying season while also equipping the grower and operators with hands-on training for the new technology.

To better understand how precision spray technology can address canopy variability, researchers at the Polytechnic University of Madrid evaluated Smart Apply in orange orchards and vineyards, analyzing its ability to adjust spray volume in real time while maintaining effective coverage.
